Having resisted for so long, Sony is finally giving way allowing cross-play on the PS4 “for select third-party content”, meaning PlayStation 4 owners will soon get the chance to compete against players from pc, Xbox and Nintendo switch. And for our luck, the Newest Diablo 3 is one among the games that will get a crossplay.
Speaking to Business Insider, a Blizzard representative confirmed that they’re working on cross-play support for Diablo 3. Though they haven’t announced anything official yet, they’re working with both Sony and Microsoft to enable cross-platform play for the game in time for its looming Nintendo Switch release. According to the Blizzard rep, it’s only a matter of time. “It’s a question of when not if,” they said on the issue.
Since Diablo 3 has a fairly large player base across all the systems it is currently available on, as well as how reliant it is on multiplayer mechanics, the game would benefit greatly from having cross-play enabled. So it’s only a matter of time for Blizzard make an official announcement sooner rather than later.
Diablo 3 is currently available on PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360. It will launch on the Nintendo Switch with Diablo 3: Eternal Collection on November 2.
